The Valley of the Ghosts, the Cuzco Labyrinth, the Astronomical Observatory... Discover all the secrets of one of the largest arid regions of Colombia on this excursion to the Tatacoa Desert.
Description
At the indicated time, we'll pick you up at your hotel in Neiva. From there, we'll drive to the Tatacoa Desert, just over an hour's drive from Neiva. Before reaching the desert, we'll stop in the small town of Villavieja and take a guided tour of its streets and the Paleontological Museum.
Then, it's finally time to enter the desert. We'll walk through its beautiful orange landscape, admiring the courage of the cactuses that dare to grow in this exceptionally arid terrain. We'll hike through the key points of the Tatacoa Desert: the Valley of the Ghosts, the Valley of the Xilopalos, the Strait of the Señoritas to name a few.
Along the way, we'll swim in a pool in the middle of the desert, where water brought directly from local springs will refresh and relax us. Afterwards, we'll replenish our strength while enjoying Colombian gastronomy.
In the afternoon, we'll approach the Cuzco Labyrinth, a winding path where mud formations up to 20 meters (65 feet) high serve as the labyrinth's walls. We'll walk through this unique landscape until late afternoon, at which point we'll sit down to enjoy the sunset.
At night, we'll head to the Astronomical Observatory to marvel at stars, planets, and constellations in a completely clear sky. With the help of expert astronomers, we'll gain a deeper understanding of celestial movements and truly get the most out of our stargazing experience.
Finally, we will accompany you back to your hotel in Neiva and we will end the tour after 13 hours of travel.
