Abseiling in Palermo
Description
At the scheduled time, we'll meet at the La Gaitana Monument, in Neiva, to begin our abseiling activity in Palermo. Before leaving, we'll have coffee and a brief introduction about the activity itself. Afterwards, we'll hop in the vehicle which will take us towards the town of Palermo, where we'll grab a bite to eat with a pure Colombian-style breakfast.
The specific location where we'll begin our abseiling activity will depend on the weather. The following are the two locations our guide will choose from on the day of the activity.
Cañón de los Ídolos (Canyon of the Idols)
After breakfast, we'll begin a hike towards Cañón de los Ídolos. Our first stop will be the Simio swimming pool to freshen ourselves up, where we'll hear all about the aboriginal legends of this area. Then, we'll continue towards the deepest part of the canyon, also known as the Boquerón de los Ídolos.
Once there, we'll get all our equipment set up and begin our descent down the Frying Pan Stone. Did you know that ritualistic sacrifices were once made at this location? After, we'll have some lunch, and then we'll get our lifejacket on and make our way down the river towards Stone Island - a unique location!
Once we've finished our tour out in nature, we'll make our way back to Palermo, where we'll then return to Neiva. We'll arrive back at the starting point after around 11 hours together.
Cascadas del Fraile (Fraile Waterfalls)
We'll begin this excursion towards the Fraile Waterfalls by taking the route through San Luis and Vereda Alto Paraguay. A charming 1.5-hour trail through nature and cute towns. You'll love it!
We'll arrive at the entrance to the waterfall and begin a 2.5-hour hike on a circuit of 5 waterfalls and natural swimming pools. In addition, we'll make a stop at each of them for a dip in their crystal-clear waters. Afterwards, we'll enjoy a typical lunch. Ready for an adventure?
Once we've eaten, we'll head towards the selected area for abseiling at the Fraile Waterfalls and get all of the necessary equipment set up for our descent. Let's go! Throughout the adventure, we'll feel the adrenaline pumping through our veins as we take in the magnificent views.
Once we've completed our descent, we'll make our return journey to Palerma, from where we'll then return to Neiva. After 11 hours together, we'll bring this activity to an end back at the starting point.
