Go on a journey through more than a thousand years of history with this medieval tour of the Sant Benet de Bages Monastery. You'll learn lots of fascinating details about this monastic complex through an audio guide in English and a series of screenings.
Description
We'll meet you in the reception of the Sant Benet de Bages Monastery to give you your audio guide so you can start your tour. Your route will take you through over a thousand years of history and begin with the origins of this monastery dedicated to Saint Benedict.
Built in around 950, the monastery was abandoned by the monks and remained in a state of ruin until it was restored in the 20th century. It was then revived thanks to the painter Ramon Casas, who lived in the monastery, and the architect Josep Puig i Cadafalch, who restored it.
Accompanied by your audio guide, you'll tour the cells where the monks lived, the cellar and the impressive cloister, where all the columns have beautiful original capitals.
You'll also visit the church of this Benedictine monastery, where you'll learn about what life was like in a medieval monastery. Through a series of audiovisual screenings, you'll learn how the monastery functioned.
After around 1 hour 15 minutes, your visit will come to an end.
