Free Walking Tour of Nantes
We'll meet at Rue des Etats at the indicated time, and from there we'll start our wonderful walking tour around this beautiful French city.
First, we'll see outside the Castle of the Dukes of Brittany, or Château des Ducs de Bretagne as it is in French. Located on the banks of the river, this impressive building today houses the Nantes History Museum.
After admiring this 13th-century fortress, we'll make our way to Tour Lu, an old biscuit factory which is now a cultural centre. Next, we'll take a stop outside the Cathedral, with its evident similarities to the Notre Dame in Paris. You'll also see the Maréchal Foch square, with its huge column, dedicated to Louis XVI, also known as the Column of Freedom.
We'll then walk along the city's most famous street, Cours des 50 Otages, which will lead us to the Tour de Bretagne skyscraper. Close by, you'll also have the chance to see the St Nicholas Basilica and the Place Royale, with the statue of Anne of Brittany in the centre.
Next, we'll walk through the Passage Pommeraye, a small shopping centre with a unique decoration that will make you feel like you've stepped back in time. Then, we'll continue admiring the beauty of Nantes as we see the Place Graslin and the Cours Cambronne; these two places are sure to make you fall in love with the city.
