Northern Lights 3 Day Tour of Russia
Northern Lights 3 Day Tour of Russia
Day 1: Meet the Sami People of Northern Russia
On arrival in Murmansk, we'll pick you up from the airport and transfer you to the hotel. We'll then begin our first day immersing ourselves in the culture and traditions of the local Sami people, an indigenous group native to this area of the world.
We'll visit the Seyd, a sacred Sami stone with a mysterious legend that we'll uncover during our tour, as well as hearing all about the Sami people, their traditions and their long history. You'll feel immersed in the local culture as a Sami shaman performs traditional music for us in the light of a warming campfire.
Continuing our experience of life in northern Russia, we'll next head to a reindeer farm where you can see these cold-loving animals up close.
Before returning to our hotel to rest for the night, we'll enjoy a delicious traditional meal accompanied by a warming cup of tea made with local herbs and roots.
Day 2: Visit a Husky Farm
Bright and early on day two, we'll indulge in a hearty breakfast, before setting off for our activity of the day. Ready to make some new furry friends? We'll visit a husky farm, where these adorable animals are raised. This breed of dogs are a vital part of life here, as they're used to travel over the snowy plains of northern Russia.
We'll have the opportunity to see the husky dogs up close, as well as learning fascinating facts about the breed and how they're cared for. We'll also get to enjoy a ride on a husky-pulled sled, an unforgettable experience and the best way to admire the natural beauty of the Nordic forests!
At the end of the day, we'll return to the hotel in Murmansk to relax ready for the next day's adventure.
Day 3: Teriberka
After enjoying a full breakfast, we'll begin the final day of our tour travelling to Teriberka. We'll cross over the tundra, barren landscapes where barely any trees grow due to the low temperatures.
Arriving in the tiny rural village of Teriberka, we'll get to see the unique nature of northern Russia, spotting the traditional fishing cabins that line the rugged coastline. We'll take a well-earned break to warm up with a delicious meal in a local restaurant. Then, with our appetites satisfied, we'll visit the old wooden boat cemetery and see a spectacular waterfall that flows into the Arctic Ocean.
Having explored Teriberka, we'll make the return journey to Murmansk after three magical days discovering northern Russia.
Northern Lights
On one of the nights that we are in Murmansk, we'll go in search of one of the most impressive phenomena that nature can offer: the Aurora Borealis. You'll learn all about how the aura happens and have free time to contemplate them in all their splendour.
As they're a natural phenomenon, it is impossible to guarantee that you'll see the Northern Lights during your tour. In the unlikely event that they cannot be seen during your excursion, you'll be refunded 30 Euros per person.
