If you're interested in contemporary history, then our Third Reich + Dachau Concentration Camp Tour is the ideal activity for you. You'll step back in time and explore one of the darkest periods in German history.
Third Reich + Dachau Concentration Camp Tour
Having met up at the Munich Central Train Station, we'll set off on our tour of Germany's Third Reich and the Dachau Concentration Camp. During our tour, we'll learn all about the places that were key to Adolf Hitler's rise to power and the origins of Nazism in Germany and Europe.
While strolling around Munich's Old Town, we'll see historic sites such as the building where Hitler joined the Nazi Party as well as the former Gestapo headquarters. In addition, we'll visit the spot where the Beer Hall Putsch, which is also called the 'Munich Putsch', took place in 1923.
Following 2 hours 30 minutes of exploring Munich, we'll give you an hour of free time before heading to Königsplatz near Munich Central Station and take the train to Dachau. Once we've boarded our train, it'll take around 30 minutes to get to the Dachau Concentration Camp Memorial Site.
When we arrive, we'll take a 5-hour tour of the camp and museum. Dachau was the first Nazi concentration camp to be built in Germany during the Holocaust, and later went on to be used as a model for other camps.
As we travel back to this sombre chapter of history, we'll see photographs, documents, reconstructed cell blocks, the crematorium and administration headquarters. We'll learn lots of lesser-known facts and stories about the Nazis who were linked to this site, such as Heinrich Himmler, the guard who founded this camp.
It'll then be time to take the train back to Munich, where we'll say our goodbyes.
