Day Trip to Salzburg by Train
Salzburg Day Trip
At the indicated time, we'll meet at Dachauer Str. 4 in Munich, from where we'll make our way to the train we'll be taking to Salzburg. As we travel, we'll admire the beautiful Bavarian Alps which separate Germany and Austria.
After a scenic 2-hour train journey, we'll arrive in Salzburg and embark on a guided walking tour of this enchanting city. Equipped with a city map, we'll follow our guide through the UNESCO-listed city's streets, admiring the Baroque architecture, castles, churches, monasteries, and charming squares that make Salzburg so special. Among the sites we'll see are Domkirche Cathedral and the Festung Hohensalzburg fortress.
When the walking tour ends, you'll have 3 hours of free time to discover the city at your own pace. Don't miss the chance to visit iconic landmarks like Mirabell Palace and its beautiful gardens if you wish. Did you know that the Archbishop of Salzburg built this Baroque palace for his lover? It's also the backdrop for the famous 'Do-Re-Mi' scene from The Sound of Music!
We also recommend exploring the well-preserved medieval old town, where you can stroll along quaint streets and see highlights like Mozart's birthplace, the city market, and the Salzburg Cathedral. With plenty of time to sightsee, you'll also have time to pick up some souvenirs and enjoy local food spots.
Finally, after seeing all Salzburg has to offer, we'll meet back up at the train station for the return journey to Munich. We'll bring the tour to an end after a total of 10 hours as we arrive back at the starting point.
