Enjoy a train and boat trip to the Bavarian Versailles with this Herrenchiemsee Palace Day Trip. Wander around the impressive royal buildings on the Chiemsee Lake islands.
Herrenchiemsee Palace Day Trip
The tour will start from Munich Central Station at 9:20 am, from which we'll board a one hour train ride towards Chiemsee. From here you'll go on a boat trip to Herreninsel Island, where the palace is located and the largest of the islands. We'll also visit Fraueninsel Island, home to the Benedictine Convent dating back over 1000 years.
Once we arrive at the palace you'll be amazed by the majestic buildings inspired by the Palace of Versailles in Paris, which includes a copy of the Hall of Mirrors. The royal residence, built in the 19th century by King Ludwig II, reflects the monarch's eccentric personality with elements including the elevated dining table constructed so that he wouldn't have to see his servants.
There is the option to be guided around the palace while learning about its history and taking in its remarkable opulence. If you choose not to opt for the interior tour, then the palace grounds stand out just as much with the postcard background of beautiful lakes and mountains
