Trans-Siberian Luxury Railway: Moscow to Beijing

Day 1 (Sunday): Moscow

Having been picked up from the airport in Moscow on arrival, we'll take you to your hotel in the Russian capital so that you can relax in preparation for your adventure on the Trans-Siberian Railway.

Day 2 (Monday): Moscow

Full of energy after breakfast at the hotel, we'll embark on a panoramic tour of Moscow's most emblematic monuments and places of interest. Discover Red Square, St Basil's Cathedral, Sparrow Hill and the spectacular Kremlin. You'll also get to see the magnificent art and architecture of the famous Moscow Metro, before ending your city settled onto an Imperial Russia train on the Trans-Siberian Railway, where you'll enjoy a well-earned dinner.

Day 3 (Tuesday): Kazan

After a night of travelling, we'll arrive in Kazan, the capital of the Russian republic of Tatarstan. We'll enjoy a guided tour of the historic city centre and explore its Kremlin, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. To make the most of our time in the region, we'll attend a traditional folk dancing performance and take part in a cooking class, immersing us in Tatar culture and cuisine. At the end of a full day of sightseeing and cultural experiences, we'll return to the train to continue our journey along the railway and have dinner.

Day 4 (Wednesday): Yekaterinburg 

Stopping in Yekaterinburg, we'll delve into the history of the Romanov dynasty. As we tour the city, we'll hear about the final moments of the last Russian Tsars, who were executed on the site of the Church on Blood.

After visiting the border between Europe and Asia, we'll return to the train for dinner and to rest ready for the next day's adventure.

Day 5 (Thursday): Novosibirsk

On our fifth day, we'll arrive in Novosibirsk, the largest city in Siberia. We'll see the Opera House, the Railway Museum and the promenade alongside the Ob River. After a delicious lunch, we'll take in the city's natural beauty before heading back to the train for dinner.

Day 6 (Friday): Crossing Siberia

We'll spend our sixth day on board the train travelling across Siberia. This is the perfect occasion for you to relax in your cabin, meet other travellers and to chat with the crew about the history of the iconic Imperial Russia train.

Day 7 (Saturday): Irkutsk

On Saturday, we'll arrive in the "Paris of Siberia". We'll enjoy a guided tour of Irkutsk, visiting the Decemberist House Museum, the House of Europe and admiring the picturesque wooden houses around the city. After indulging in a typical lunch in a local restaurant, we'll get to know more about the traditional homes of Irkutsk visiting the Taltsy Museum of Wooden Architecture on the banks of the Angara River.

Day 8 (Sunday): Lake Baikal

Reaching the port of Baikal, we'll climb aboard a boat that will take us to the picturesque lakeside village of Listvyanka. There, we'll enjoy unforgettable views of Lake Baikal and the Chersky Stone, as well as learning all about the local plants and wildlife. We'll enjoy a picnic lunch on the banks of the breathtakingly beautiful Lake Baikal before returning to the train.

Day 9 (Monday): Ulan-Ude

The last city that we'll visit in Russia is Ulan-Ude, where we'll get to know the ethnic diversity of the Buryatia region and visit the Ivolginsky Datsan Buddhist temple. What's more, we'll learn all about the Buryat culture with the opportunity to prepare traditional food, try on traditional local clothing and put up a yurt.

Back on the Trans-Siberian Railway, we'll have dinner as we continue on our journey to the Far East.

Day 10 (Tuesday): Ulaanbaatar

On the tenth day of our Trans-Siberian adventure, we'll arrive in Mongolia, where we'll enjoy a guided tour of the capital, Ulaanbaatar. We'll then get to explore the Gorkhi-Terelj National Park and discover Mongolia's traditions and culture spending an evening with a nomadic family and sleeping in a yurt camp, known as gers in Mongolia.

Day 11 (Wednesday): Ulaanbaatar

After breakfast at the camp, we'll visit the Gandan Monastery and admire its impressive Buddhist statue, before renewing our energy with a Mongolian barbecue and enjoying a folk show including traditional throat singing. We'll then return to the Trans-Siberian train.

Day 12 (Thursday): Erlian

Arriving in the border town of Erlian, we'll change trains and enter China. Lunch and dinner will be served on board the train.

Day 13 (Friday): Beijing

Having passed through the spectacular nature of northern China, we'll reach the capital city and kick our visit off with a guided tour of Beijing's Tiananmen Square and the Forbidden City, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. We'll enjoy lunch and dinner in local restaurants, so you can taste in traditional Peking duck, and we'll spend the night in a hotel in the city.

Day 14 (Saturday): Beijing

On the penultimate day of our trip, we'll take the opportunity to discover one of the Seven Wonders of the Modern World: the Great Wall of China. We'll head to the most famous stretch of the enormous ancient structure, as well as visiting the Summer Palace in Beijing in Beijing, located on the shores of Lake Kunming. Indulge your tastebuds with mouth-watering local cuisine for the final time at local restaurants for lunch and dinner, before spending one last night in Beijing.

Day 15 (Sunday): Beijing

Having had our final breakfast at the hotel, we'll wave farewell to the Chinese capital and head to Beijing Airport for our onwards journeys after an unforgettable two weeks on the Trans-Siberian Railway.

When making your reservation for the Imperial Russia Trans-Siberian Railway, you'll be able to choose the type of cabin according to your preferences:

• VIP Cabin: this 7 metre squared cabin has two large bunk beds (one upper, one lower), a table, an armchair and a wardrobe. It also has television, air conditioning and its own bathroom with shower and washbasin.
• Business Cabin: this 5.5 metre squared compartment has two large bunk beds (one upper, one lower), a table, an armchair and a wardrobe. It also has television, air conditioning and its own bathroom with shower and washbasin.
• Plus Cabin: these cabins are 3.3 metres squared and have two bunk beds (one upper, one lower), a table, an armchair and a wardrobe. There is air conditioning throughout the carriage and your luggage will go in a different compartment. You'll share the washbasin with another cabin and there are two bathrooms with a shower at the ends of the carriage.
• First Class Cabin: these compartments are 3.3 metres squared and have two lower-level beds, a table, television and a space to store clothes. There is a shower, washbasin and air conditioning for the use of the entire carriage, and there are two bathrooms at either end of the carriage.
