Tacámbaro & Alberca de Chupio Tour
Tacámbaro & Alberca de Chupio Tour
At 8 am, we'll pick you up at your hotel in Morelia and set off for the Pueblo Mágico, or Magical Town of Tacámbaro, so designated thanks to its beauty, culture and history.
First, we'll stop on the outskirts of the town to discover the beautiful Magdalena Lagoon, a lake surrounded by a dense coniferous forest. If you fancy a refreshing dip, don't hesitate to jump in for a swim!
Next, we'll visit the Chapel of María Magdalena, a 16th century church that belonged to Governor Cristóbal de Oñate and was used by Augustinian monks to try and convert the local indigenous people to Christianity.
We'll then visit the centre of the Tacámbaro, passing through the Plaza del Santo Niño and admiring religious buildings including the Cathedral, the Church of Fátima and the Church of Guadalupe. You'll then have an hour of free time to get some lunch and try some local delicacies.
Afterwards, we'll make our way to Alberca de Chupio, a volcanic crater located just 3 kilometres from the town. While we explore the lake surrounding the volcano, we'll hear about one of its most curious legends: the Combate de las Flores, which concerns King Tacamba and ancient Purepecha customs.
After relaxing in this tranquil oasis, we'll head back to Morelia, where you are expected to arrive at your hotel at 7 pm.
