Private Tour to Paricutín Volcano & Angahuan
Private Tour to Paricutín Volcano & Angahuan
After picking you up from your hotel in Morelia at 9 am, we'll set off on our private tour to explore the world's youngest volcano. Emerging from farmland in 1943, it was active for over 10 years: the Paricutín Volcano awaits!
Following a three and a half hour drive, we'll reach the base of the mountain, located in the Pico de Tancítaro National Park. There, we'll embark on a two-kilometre route on foot or on horseback, whichever you prefer.
We'll explore the surroundings of this impressive 2800-metre-high volcano. What's more, we'll approach the ruins of the village of San Juan Paricutín, which was buried by lava in a volcanic explosion. Look for the remains of the church of San Juan Parangaricutiro!
We'll then get back in the vehicle and drive to Angahuan, a Purepecha community where we'll have the opportunity to learn all about the indigenous language and customs. We'll see the Church of Santiago Apostle, whose facade features carvings in the Mudéjar style, which blends Christian and Islamic architecture - a truly unique sight!
Later, you'll enjoy a traditional lunch of local dishes such as churipo (a spicy soup), corundas (like tamales) and gordias de queso (tortillas stuffed with cheese). Finally, we'll return to Morelia, where you'll be dropped off at your hotel at 6 pm.
