Welcome to Monument Valley! This incredible natural wonder, spread out over the states of Arizona and Utah, boasts timeless landscapes that have captivated visitors year after year. When booking this scenic tour of Monument Valley, you can choose to experience the astounding reddish landscapes at sunrise or sunset for a magical experience.
Both tours leave from The View Hotel lobby, covering a route of 45 km (28 mi) by vehicle, with a musical performance by the guide and visit a traditional Navajo Hogan—a unique cultural experience!
Sunrise Tour
We'll begin our sunrise tour of Monument Valley at the indicated time. Hopping into our vehicle, alongside our local guide, we'll set off in search of the perfect spot to catch the sunrise.
As we drive over the desert landscape, we'll pass colossal natural arches, getting spectacular views as the sun just begins to rise. Our first stop will be at the center of the Totem Pole rock formation's arch, where we'll go to the perfect vantage point to watch a jaw-dropping sunrise.
From here, with the sun shining, we'll embark on a highlight tour of the other rock formations within Monument Valley. Throughout our route, we'll view the West and East Mitten Butte, Three Sisters, John Ford Point, Sleeping Dragon, The Big Hogan, Moccasin Arch, Sun's Eye, and North Window. Along the way, we'll also enjoy a traditional musical performance from our local guide.
Next up, we'll head over to the Navajo Hogan, a traditional dwelling of the Navajo people, where we'll get to see traditional hand-woven textiles.
Then, after 3 hours, we'll bring the tour to an end, back at the meeting point.
Sunset Tour
If you book the sunset tour of Monument Valley, we'll follow the same itinerary detailed above, but in reverse.
We'll begin with a highlight tour of the rock formations mentioned above, like West and East Mitten Butte, Three Sisters, John Ford Point, and others, and we'll hear a musical performance from our guide.
Then, we'll head to a traditional Navajo Hogan dwelling before we set out over the rugged landscapes of the area, in search of the ideal spot to watch the skies transform into brilliant tones of orange and red for a once-in-a-lifetime sunset. Get those cameras ready!
After 3 hours, we'll return to the meeting point, with memories that will last a lifetime.
