Day Trip from Montpellier
At the appointed time, we'll meet at the Odysseum Shopping Center in Montpellier, and hop on a minibus to begin a spectacular tour of the Occitania region in the south of France. Everybody buckled up? Here we go!
After a 28 km (17.3-mile) journey, we'll arrive at the walled city of Aigues-Mortes. Can you imagine a town built on a marshy area? It's a historic marvel of urban planning! Once there, we'll explore the city center and the well-preserved walls that protect this remarkable town.
If you take the tour between April and October, we'll hop on a small train for a tour of the Salines de la Camargue. As soon as we arrive, you'll feel like you're on another planet thanks to the vibrant pink water. You'll be amazed! If you join the excursion between November and March, we'll visit the Espiguette Lighthouse. Here, we'll see typical Camargue birds and explore landscapes of rice fields and marshes.
Next up, we'll head to Saintes-Maries-de-la-Mer. Upon arrival in this charming village, we'll begin our exploration of its historic center. Here, we'll admire its Romanesque church and the revered Black Virgin, dating back to the 10th century.
Finally, we'll begin our journey back to Montpellier, but not before making one last stop at the Torre Carbonnière. Here, we'll ascend the staircase for magnificent panoramic views of the surrounding marshes and rice paddies. Get your cameras ready!
Then, after 8-hours we'll return to the meeting point, bringing the tour to an end.
