Can you imagine walking through cloud-covered trees? Be amazed by Monteverde Cloud Forest's natural beauty on this hiking route. We'll uncover the biodiversity of this unique ecosystem in Costa Rica.
Options
When booking, you can choose between 2 options for a hike around the Cloud Forest. Both last 3 hours and include hotel pickup and drop-off, the use of binoculars and a telescope, and an English-speaking guide.
Here, you can see the details of each option:
Monteverde Cloud Forest Reserve
Monteverde Cloud Forest Reserve is unique among other rainforests in Costa Rica, since it's in a constant cloud, hence its name. The high level of humidity in this spot, at 1,600 metres (5,250 feet) above sea level, provides cloud-like cover.
On this walk, you'll be accompanied by a guide who will explain all about the fauna and flora in this unique ecosystem, one of the places with the highest levels of biodiversity in the world. You can see monkeys, coaties, hummingbirds and, and if you're lucky, the famous quetzal, the most beautiful bird in the world. You can also use binoculars and a telescope to admire these animals.
The walking route will take us around 9 hikes in the reserve. One of the most spectacular spots of the excursion is La Ventana viewpoint, where you can see the Atlantic and Pacific Oceans at the same time.
Santa Elena Cloud Forest Reserve
On this option, we'll explore Santa Elena Cloud Forest Reserve, a reserve found on the Tilarán mountain range bordering the Monteverde conservation site, which is home to more than 300 hectares (741 acres) of cloud forest. In this key point, we'll observe 100s of species of plants and animals such as spider monkeys and sloths.
