Get in touch with the more rural side of Brazil on this excursion to Fazenda da Esperança. We'll visit a farm founded in 1842 and check out the regional flora and fauna.
Fazenda Esperança Excursion
At 10 am we'll pick you up at your hotel in Monte Verde. From there, we'll hop in a 4x4 vehicle and head north to Fazenda da Esperança, a more than 100-year-old farm about an hour away.
Located in Jaguary de Cima on the outskirts of Monte Verde, Fazenda da Esperança is an ideal place to explore the typical flora and fauna of the state of Minas Gerais. At the farm, we'll also learn about traditional activities linked to life in the countryside.
Once we arrive, we'll get out of the vehicle and start a guided tour of the farm's facilities. We'll learn about the history of the fazenda, dating all the way back to 1842, and review the origins of the family that has been running this business for five generations.
As we tour the farm, we'll be able to see different birds that usually fly over the area and, with a bit of luck, see anteaters, deer, and even maned wolves! Of course, we'll tell you all kinds of curiosities about the animals we see.
During the visit, we'll also learn about the process of making dulce de leche on the farm. And, yes, you'll also be able to taste some for yourself! If you want to enjoy even more of the regional gastronomy, you can visit the Fazenda Esperança restaurant where you can enjoy lunch on your own.
After two hours at the farm, we'll finish the tour at 2 pm and drop you off at your hotel in Monte Verde.
Temporary changes
Until further notice, access to the dulce de leche production area is suspended.
