Monforte de Lemos Guided Tour
We'll meet up 10 minutes before the scheduled time in front of the Parador Nacional de Turismo and set off on our guided walking tour of Monforte de Lemos, the capital of the Ribeira Sacra.
After admiring beautiful panoramic views of the Lemos Valley and learning some fun facts about this town in Lugo, which was founded in 1104, we'll walk around the exterior of the Monte de San Vicente monumental complex. As we explore this area, we'll see the County Palace, the Church of San Vicente del Pino, the castle and its keep from the outside. In addition, we'll head to the cloisters of the Monastery of San Vicente del Pino.
Our tour will then take us through the medieval village, where we'll spot the Campillo de la Virgen and the wall, plus its three gates. We'll also pass through the falagueira, the street on which the medieval burgh is structured. As well as this, we'll discover the remains of the Jewish quarter, which is part of the Network of Spanish Jewish Quarters.
Next, we'll leave the medieval burgh behind to see the Dominican Convent and the present-day Church of A Régoa, as well as the old bridge and the exterior of the Convent of the Poor Clares.
Finally, we'll pass by the Ribeira Sacra Wine Centre until we come to the Plaza de España. Our guided tour of Monforte de Lemos will then come to an end after 2 hours of history and beautiful buildings.
