On this guided tour of Monforte d'Alba, we'll learn about the history of Cuneo, one of the most beautiful provinces of the Piedmont region.
Tour Description
At the indicated time, we'll start our guided tour of Monforte d'Alba from the Tourist Office, located at 3 Via della Chiesa. Are you ready to discover one of the most beautiful villages in the Langhe? The beautiful hilly area is located to the south and east of the Tanaro River, in Piedmont's province of Cuneo.
First, we'll visit the Chiesa della Madonna della Neve, which dates back to the beginning of the 20th Century. The route will then continue to Piazza Umberto I, the centre of the town's social and commercial life. From this square, we'll go to the Martina Museum, dedicated to a colonel of the Savoy army.
After visiting this ancient palace, where we'll walk through its different rooms, we'll go to the medieval part of Monforte d'Alba, located in the upper part. In this area, we'll talk about the Cathars while walking through the streets of Saracca, the oldest quarter of the town. The next stop will be in Piazza della Vecchia Chiesa, where we'll see the Oratorio di Sant'Agostino and the Clock Tower.
Then we'll go to the open-air amphitheatre of Horschowski, where the famous Monforte Jazz Festival is held every July. We'll also stop at the iconic Big Bench #12, where you can take some amazing pictures.
Finally, after an hour, we'll conclude the tour at the Alberto Scarampi del Cairo lookout point.
Partial Closures
Please keep in mind that, on occasion, the Martina Museum closes for private events.
