The food is good, the atmosphere is excellent and the staff is very friendly. You also get to see a very nice part of Mombasa. The only thing I think is that it is better to have lunch than dinner, because the boat leaves at 18:30 and by 19:30 it is nighttime and you cannot see the landscape. You should leave a little earlier, or as a better option opt for the midday tour.

Enjoy a delicious lunch or dinner in the most Kenyan style as you cruise along the coast of Mombasa on board a traditional boat. Not to be missed!

Types of Boat Cruise

When you make your booking, you can choose if you would like to take your boat cruise during the day, with lunch included, or at night, with dinner included.

Boat Cruise with Lunch

We’ll come and pick you up from your hotel at 12 noon and we’ll head straight to the port of Mombasa, where you’ll board a jahazi. This is a wooden, Arabic boat which was originally built to transport goods between the Kenyan coast and the countries that border the Red Sea and the Persian Gulf. Despite this being their original use, they are now used for tourism and are equipped with 21st-century facilities, meaning your journey will be more than comfortable, but they still maintain their seafaring essence from yesteryear.

The route will take you parallel to the Tudor neighbourhood, one of the most historic districts on the island of Mombasa. And, as you enjoy the wonderful view, your tastebuds will also be in for a treat with a delicious Kenyan lunch. Eventually, we’ll sail back to the port and from there we’ll take you back to your hotel.

Boat Cruise with Dinner

When the sun starts to set on the African horizon (at around 5:00 pm), we’ll pick you up from your hotel in Mombasa and head to the port ready for you to enjoy a romantic evening cruise. The night will slowly fall over the city, and the sky will fill with stars: the perfect setting for a boat cruise along the Kenyan coast.

After enjoying a welcome cocktail, we’ll sail towards Fort Jesus. This 16th-century Portuguese bastion has been declared as a UNESCO World Heritage Site; from the boat you’ll be able to see it lit up. Half way through the journey, you’ll be able to enjoy a traditional dinner and then the evening will liven up with music from an onboard DJ. Time to get your dancing shoes on!

Finally, we’ll head back to the port and then we’ll take you back to your hotel.

Menu

The meal served on board include a selection of seafood, soup of the day a main course (to choose, out of half a grilled lobster, grilled prawns, Swahili-style seafood, grilled beef steak) and a fruit salad. Drinks are not included.
