Cliffs, gorges, eagles and more surprises await you on this cruise around Arribes del Douro, a unique natural enclave just a few kilometres away from Miranda de Douro.
Description
The tour will meet at the chosen time at the Douro International Biological Station pier, just around the corner from the Portuguese town of Miranda de Douro. From here, we set off aboard the boat that will take us around the viewpoints and waterfalls of this incredible natural park.
Throughout the cruise, the boat's crew will explain the main geographical characteristics of the canyon. We'll pass by the Líquenes Cliffs, the entry point to the national park, before heading to the "Otter Pond" where you'll be introduced to the flora of the area.
To get to know the birds that nest in the Arribes del Douro, we'll sail through the eagle territory of the area, as well as that of the black stork, two of the most striking species in the area. Fingers crossed we'll spot some of these stunning birds!
The end of the tour comes at the Eagle Valley - one of the best viewpoints in the Arribes del Douro park. Then you'll have the opportunity to take to the boat's terrace, and take photographs of the stunning region as we head back to the start point.
Following an hour and 15 minutes of exploring the canyon, we'll head back to dry land to enjoy a 30-minute tasing of Porto's wines. The perfect end to an unforgettable day in the Arribes del Douro!
