Huasteca Tour Details
Day 1: Overnight Departure from Mexico City - Salto del Meco
At the designated time, we'll meet at the pickup point in Mexico City that you selected to begin our adventure heading to Huasteca Potosina, a region known for its fascinating landscapes and turquoise lagoons. Let's go!
On the way, we'll stop at a restaurant in Querétaro so that you can grab a bite for dinner. During the night, you'll sleep on a bus as we head to our destination.
Day 2: Salto del Meco - Minas Viejas - Ciudad Valles
In the morning, after 13 hours of traveling, we'll finally reach Salto del Meco. Here, you'll have more than 3 hours to grab some breakfast, refresh, and change before we enjoy its impressive 114 foot (35 meters) waterfall with crystalline waters and dream-like landscapes.
Next, we'll regroup at the vehicle. After a 40-minute journey, we'll reach Minas Viejas. Here, you'll have 2 hours to explore this area at your own pace, where you'll enjoy its 164-foot (50-meter) waterfall, swim in its pools, and try the delicious local cuisine.
Afterward, we'll travel for 1.5 hours until we reach Ciudad Valles, where we'll check in at the hotel. The rest of the afternoon will be free for you to rest and explore the city at your own pace. You'll be amazed by it!
Day 3: Ciudad Valles - Tamul Waterfall - Puente de Dios - Ciudad Valles
We'll start the day with a 1-hour road trip toward the famous Tamul Waterfall. Before arriving, we'll stop along the way so that you can grab some breakfast. Once we arrive at the waterfall, you'll get to spend 4 hours exploring this majestic site. We'll climb up a panga, a traditional Mexican boat, and row toward the Cueva del Agua, where you'll be able to admire its turquoise waters.
Then, we'll travel for 1.5 hours until we reach Puente de Dios, another natural treasure in the Huasteca Potosina. Here, we'll embark on a 3-hour guided tour of this spectacular natural site, and afterward, you'll have free time to grab lunch.
After lunch, we'll return to the hotel in Ciudad Valles so that you can rest and enjoy dinner on your own.
Day 4: Ciudad Valles - Cave of Swallows - Xilitla - Mexico City
Bright and early, we'll start our fourth day by checking out of the hotel in Ciudad Valles to head to the Cave of Swallows, a stunning natural abyss just an hour away. Once we arrive, we'll go on a 2.5-hour hike in this site, which is one of the largest bird sanctuaries in the world.
Afterward, you'll have a bit more than 2 hours to have breakfast and explore the Pueblo Mágico (Magical Village) of Aquismón. Later, we'll travel to Xilitla on a 1-hour journey. Here, we'll enjoy a 2-hour guided tour of the Las Pozas ("The Pools"), a surrealistic group of unique structures with lush vegetation created by Edward James that will surely amaze you.
In the afternoon, you'll have 3 hours of free time to stroll through the Pueblo Mágico of Xilitla and enjoy its cuisine.
Finally, we'll regroup to begin our journey back to Mexico City, where we'll arrive the next day at 3 am.
