On this taco tour through Mexico City, you'll make your way through the historic downtown area and its central markets and top off the day with tacos!
Description
Meet us in front of Hostal Amigo to kick off our tacos and artisanry tour through Mexico City. On this adventure, we'll taste and see the authentic flavors of Mexico and its rich culture and tradition for a complete experience!
The first stop on our tour will be the Zócalo, where we'll come across significant buildings like the Cathedral and the National Palace. From here, we'll continue to the iconic 5 de Mayo Street, an avenue honoring the historic battle against the French. We'll also find the Tiled House, a beautiful ode to Spanish new baroque-style architecture.
Finishing up the historical part of the tour, we'll head to the Fine Arts Palace, one of the most famous cultural centers in Mexico. We'll take advantage to recharge our batteries and make our way to a taco stand to sample authentic traditional Mexican tacos, like carnitas, al pastor, cochinita, and more!
Next, we'll enter the local San Juan market to wander through the stalls and see the many different kinds of meat and exotic animals featured, various tropical fruit stands, and even the occasional insect stand! We'll top off our gastronomic adventure with a traditional shot of tequila or mezcal.
Before leaving the market behind us, we'll give you some free time to explore the different stalls and head over to our final stop, the Ciudadela Market. This market, in particular, is known for its variety of Mexican artisanal works, the best place for buying authentic souvenirs. As we roam through over 350 stands, we'll discuss the origin and history of the many products typical to the area.
After 4 hours of an all-encompassing tour, we'll part ways at the final stop on our tour.
