We will meet up at 7 am at the Michoacán Market in Mexico City and from there set off for the Nevado de Toluca National Park where we start our brilliant hike.
At 9:30 am we will arrive at the Alpine refuge in the park, where you will receive a snack pack to enjoy later on. Then we start hiking to our first stop at the idyllic Moon Lagoon, located on the eastern side of the volcano.
After ascending for a total of three hours, we will arrive at our destination: the crater of the Nevado de Toluca. You will have one hour of free time to walk around it and admire the slopes of the picturesque Toluca and Tenango valleys. There's no need to panic as the volcano has been dormant for 100 years.
Then, we will start the descent and stop at the Laguna del Sol, separated from the previous one by an amazing lava tongue. We will continue descending and at 4 pm our trek will finish back at the refuge.
During the return journey to Mexico City, we will stop at La Marquesa to regain our strength with some tacos and quesadillas in the purest Mexican style.
The trip concludes back at the original starting point at 8 pm.
