Mexico City Mural Tour
Mexico City Mural Tour
At the indicated time, we'll start our tour of Mexico City's murals in the Plaza de Santo Domingo (in front of the Domingo Santo Hotel), which is just two streets away from the Plaza de la Constitución.
From this central point, we'll take a walk to the Secretariat of Public Education building and admire the famous murals of Diego Rivera. We'll take in over 3,200 square feet (300 square metres) of murals and talk about Mexican history, culture and traditions through images.
We'll continue our tour by visiting the museum of the Antiguo Colegio de San Ildefonso, which houses works by artists such as José Clemente Orozco, Jean Charlot, and Diego Rivera himself.
Afterwards, we'll visit the Palace of Fine Arts museum. Inside this building, we'll see several murals that have become prized gems of Mexican Art History. These include "Man Controller of the Universe" by Diego Rivera and "Katharsis" by José Clemente Orozco. We'll also pause at some other outstanding murals painted by national artists such as David Alfaro Siqueiros, González Camarena, Roberto Montenegro and Rufino Tamayo.
Our tour will finish 3.5 hours later, at the Alameda Central.
