Are you in Mexico City and eager to discover the secrets of the former Mexican presidential residence? Don't miss this tour of the Los Pinos Cultural Complex.
Description
At the indicated time, we'll meet at Avenida de la República before beginning our journey toward the Los Pinos Cultural Complex, located in the heart of the Chapultepec Forest, the green lung of the capital.
For decades, this building served as the residence of Mexican presidents. Although the structure itself was built toward the end of the 19th century, it wasn't until 1935 that it was inhabited for the first time. The first resident was Lázaro Cárdenas, who began living in the complex months after being elected.
Since then, around 14 presidents have lived between these walls, the most recent resident being Enrique Peña, who held power from 2012 until 2018. To gain an insight into how these presidents lived, we'll explore the building and enjoy its subtle nuances. We'll visit the presidential meeting rooms, living rooms, the cinema room, or the balcony, among other rooms in this vast residence.
We'll also stroll through its elegant gardens, where statues and monuments are omnipresent. These sculptures depict figures such as Miguel Hidalgo y Costilla and José María Morelos y Pavón, both of whom resided in Los Pinos.
To conclude the tour, we'll return to the starting point, where we'll say our goodbyes after 6 hours of activity.
