Legend of La Llorona Show
Legend of La Llorona Show
After picking you up at your hotel in Mexico City, we'll head to the neighborhood of Xochimilco, where we'll go on a trajinera ride through the canals to get to the venue. Ready to discover the terrifying legend of La Llorona?
Once in the Tlílac lagoon, the trajinera will turn into our seating for the show. Did you know that the history of this character goes back to the chronicles of Bernal Díaz del Castillo? This Spaniard was part of the conquest of the Mexican empire, and among his stories, he tells the legend of La Llorona.
The performance is about the soul of an Indigenous woman who cries out her sorrows in the canals of Xochimilco. This story, which has been passed down from generation to generation, is now considered Cultural Heritage.
On stage, also on a trajinera, ancient Mexican instruments made of bone and clay, ocarinas, whistling vessels, drums and gourd rattles combine with other instruments that arrived with the conquest, such as the marimba, harp and guitar. A unique show full of music, light and vibrant colors awaits in Xochimilco - don't miss out!
