Travel back to the years of the Aztec civilisation on your visit to the Templo Mayor Museum, the centre of religious life in the capital of Tenochtitlan.
Templo Mayor Museum Skip The Line Ticket
The Templo Mayor Museum in Mexico City was created to show the relics of the Mexica civilisation found in the archaeological site of the ancient Templo Mayor de Tenochitlán.
With this ticket, you can explore its eight exhibition halls, where 10,000 pieces are on display. Many of these objects originate from offerings discovered during the excavations of the temple.
The entrance ticket to the Templo Mayor Museum also includes access to the archaeological zone, which was the city of Tenochtitlan of the Aztec Empire until its destruction during the Spanish colonisation. As you walk among these artefacts, you can picture what the temples dedicated to the god of rain, Tlaloc, and to the god of war, Huitzilopochtli were like back then.
On your visit to the site, you'll learn about the seven stages of construction of this great city, which is believed to have had as many as 78 buildings! From the second era, only some shrines stayed somewhat intact, and from the third, some staircases related to the reign of Emperor Itzcoatl are all that remain.
Opening hours
The Templo Mayor Museum is open from Tuesday to Sunday from 9 am to 5 pm.
Price
The official ticket price at the ticket office is lower than the one we offer (85 MXN (US$ 4.38)), but it's not skip-the-line. If you want to buy your ticket directly at the museum, you'll have to buy it at the ticket office and wait in line.
