Tour Details

We’ll begin our tour by meeting at the agreed time in the Plaza del Zócalo, right in front of the impressive Metropolitan Cathedral—one of the largest and oldest cathedrals in the Americas. If access is permitted, we’ll step inside to admire its grand interior and fascinating blend of architectural styles, from Baroque to Neoclassical.

From there, we’ll make our way to the Templo Mayor and the Temple of Tlaloc, where you’ll witness the remains of ancient Aztec temples nestled in the heart of the modern city. These ruins offer a striking contrast and a powerful reminder of Mexico City’s pre-Hispanic past, rich in history and symbolism.

Our next stop will be the Plaza de Santo Domingo, a charming square surrounded by colonial buildings with intricate facades and centuries-old stories. It’s a peaceful spot that offers a glimpse into the city’s colonial heritage and is a favorite among photographers and history lovers alike.

We’ll then continue along a scenic route past the National Art Museum, housed in an elegant early-20th-century building, and arrive at the majestic Palace of Fine Arts. This cultural landmark is renowned for its magnificent architecture, blending Art Nouveau on the exterior with Art Deco inside, and for being home to murals by some of Mexico’s most celebrated artists.

After approximately two hours of exploring, learning, and soaking in the sights, we’ll conclude our free walking tour near the Palace of Fine Arts—leaving you with a deeper appreciation for the layers of history, art, and culture that define Mexico City.
