Free Walking Tour of Coyoacán
We'll meet up at the scheduled time by the Frida Kahlo Museum and set off on our free walking tour of Coyoacán. Let's see the sights!
During our tour, we'll walk through the cobbled streets of the contemporary neighborhood and admire the pre-Hispanic remains and colonial buildings, discovering its role as a hub of cultural and intellectual influence. Frida Kahlo was born here and a wealth of famous figures have passed through Coyoacán, such as Buñuel, Trotsky and Jesusa Rodríguez.
Throughout the route we'll visit the Church of St. John the Baptist, one of the first churches built after the conquest of Hernán Cortés. Here, we'll learn about the story of the local culture that emerged after Spanish colonization.
Next, we'll see the old Town Hall building before heading to the Centennial Garden. We'll also discover the Jesús Reyes Heroles House of Culture, which is home to important archaeological remains.
Afterwards, we'll visit the craft stalls full of necklaces and traditional Indigenous toys. As well as this, we'll see some urban art murals and talk about street food in Coyoacán.
Our free walking tour of Coyoacán will come to an end in the Plaza de Santa Catarina after 2 hours 15 minutes of fun.
