Chignahuapan & Zacatlan de las Manzanas Christmas Excursion
At 6 am we'll meet at the Benidorm hotel and board a minibus that will take us to discover the Christmas traditions of the villages around Mexico City.
After a two-and-a-half-hour drive, we'll arrive at our first destination of the day – Chignahuapan! Once we get there, we'll start walking around this charming Magic Town of the eternal Christmas discovering its beauty.
Did you know that in Chignahuapan there are more than 200 Christmas ball factories and workshops? We'll visit one of them to see firsthand how these spheres that year after year decorate the Mexican Christmas trees are made.
We'll see Christmas ball decorations of different sizes, colors, textures, and materials not only in the workshop, but also decorating the facades of the houses in town. Also, we'll leave you two hours of free time so you can do some shopping and have lunch at your leisure.
Then, we'll meet again and hop back in the vehicle to head to Zacatlan de las Manzanas, famous for its extensive crops of apples, hence the town's name. Here we'll enjoy a cider tasting and stroll through the historic center to learn about the town's past and Christmas traditions.
During the tour of Zacatlan de las Manzanas, we'll be able to see its 16th-century Franciscan temple and we'll see the floral clock. This monument will allow us to learn about one of the most deeply rooted activities among the local population. You'll also have two more hours of free time to continue exploring the town at your leisure.
We'll finish the excursion at approximately 10:30 pm arriving at the starting point in Mexico City.
