Cacaxtla and Tlaxcala Day Trip
Description
At the indicated time, we'll meet in the centre of Mexico City on Calle Florencia, from which point we'll drive to the Archaeological Zone of Cacaxtla, in the state of Tlaxcala.
After 2 hours of travel, we'll arrive at Cacaxtla, where we'll visit the ancient ruins and the site museum, where we'll discover a magnificent collection of pieces belonging to the Olmec-Xicalanca culture. We'll tour the museum facilities and learn about this civilisation that inhabited the region between 200 and 900 AD.
After visiting the Archaeological Zone of Cacaxtla, we'll continue on to our next stop: Tlaxcala. Here, we'll visit the Basilica of the Virgin of Ocotlán, whose stunning facade and white mortar towers will take your breath away!
We'll continue our tour of Tlaxcala at the former Franciscan convent and current Tlaxcala Cathedral - one of the first Franciscan convents in the Americas.
From here, we'll continue with a grand tour of the Plaza de Toros Jorge Aguilar El Ranchero, one of the first bullrings in the country and considered by many to be the most beautiful in the world.
Alongside our tour guide, we'll learn about the history of this fascinating city and the relationship between Spain and the people of Tlaxcala. After this visit, we'll leave you 1 hour of free time to grab some lunch in a local restaurant if you wish!
With your batteries recharged, we'll hop back onto the minibus and make our return to the meeting point in Mexico City, at which point we'll say goodbye after 10 hours of activity.
