Free Tour of the Bosque de Chapultepec
At the scheduled time, we'll meet at the Hotel Geneve. Ready for a free tour of one of the most important green spaces in Mexico City?
When we get there, we'll try to spot some of the different tree species that thrive in this lush area. You'll see cedars, poplars, palms, sycamores and more!
Next, we'll pass by a 16th-century pool, as well as one of the healing pools where Montezuma is believed to have bathed. We'll also stop in front of the cave guarded by an ancient ahuehuete tree called "The Sargeant". According to Nahuatl legends, this is the gateway to the underworld.
We'll continue towards Chapultepec Castle, a neoclassical and baroque palace that served as a retreat for viceroys of New Spain. Nearby we'll find the Monument to the Child Heroes, which was dedicated to Mexican fighters who died in the Mexican-American war of 1846 to 1848.
After about 2 hours of beautiful scenery and fascinating history, our free walking tour will come to an end.
