Tindari & Milazzo Excursion
At the time of your choice, we'll meet you on Via I Settembre. From here, we'll hit the road for the city of Tindari, enjoying breathtaking views of the Tyrrhenian Sea and the Aeolian Islands along the way.
After about an hour's drive, we'll reach our destination. For our first stop of the day, we'll head straight to a viewpoint to admire the beautiful scenery of the Nebrodi Mountains and snap some postcard-worthy photos.
Then, we'll make our way to the Sanctuary of Tindari. Did you know that the sculpture of the Black Madonna kept in this building was carved in Constantinople more than ten centuries ago? This image attracts thousands of pilgrims from all over Sicily year after year.
After exploring the interior of the temple, the guide will take us to the archaeological ruins of Tindari. There, you can see a well-preserved Greek theater, ancient walls, Roman mosaics and a basilica dating back to the 4th century B.C. As we make our way through this complex, we'll tell you all about the foundation of the ancient city of Tyndaris!
Then, we'll leave Tindari behind and travel an hour to the next stop on our excursion, Milazzo. Upon arrival, we'll stroll through its beautiful historic center full of churches and colorful houses. We'll also get to explore the inside of the castle, Castello di Milazzo, a fortress that has been remodeled by Greeks, Romans, Byzantines, Arabs and Normans.
Later, we'll return to the minibus and say goodbye to Milazzo. After seven hours of activity, the excursion will finish with our arrival at the starting point in Messina.
