Savoca and Taormina Day Trip
Having met in the Messina port, we'll climb aboard the bus which will take us to Savoca, a picturesque medieval city at 300 metres above sea level. During the hour-long journey, we'll reveal the importance of this place to the history of the film industry - and soon you'll understand why Savoca seems so familiar!
In 1972 the director Francis Ford Coppola chose this city for a number of scenes in his legendary film: The Godfather. And as we explore its cobbled streets, we'll pass alongside the St. Nicolas church where Michael and Apollonia celebrated their wedding, and we'll stop by the iconic bar Vitelli. Just like it was in the film!
Leaving the gangster village behind mercifully lead-free, we'll make our way to Taormina. This historic city offers unbeatable views of the sea, with the Etna volcano in the background. we'll visit the ruins of the Greek and Roman theatre, and Corso Umberto - the town's star attractions.
Then you'll have free time to explore its innumerable street stalls, and enjoy the lively atmosphere of one of the most beautiful towns in Sicily. The perfect moment to make the most of the amazing Sicilian food in one of the many restaurants around (not included).
