Would you like to know the secrets of the Mayan culture? On this tour to Uxmal from Merida we'll visit this impressive archaeological site which is part of the Puuc Route and visit the ancient Hacienda Yaxcopoil.
Description
At the designated time, we'll pick you up at your hotel in Merida and drive to the ancient Hacienda Yaxcopoil to learn more about the culture and traditions of the area.
Did you know that its name in Mayan means "place of the green poplars"? Once there, we'll tell you about the history of this estate, which brings together the three great periods of Yucatán's past: pre-Hispanic life, colonial life and the henequen boom.
Next, we'll head to Uxmal, an important World Heritage Site. There we'll visit its main remains, such as the imposing Pyramid of the Soothsayer, the Nun's Quadrangle, the Ball Court and the Governor's Palace.
After exploring Uxmal, we'll visit a beautiful cenote where you can take a refreshing dip, a truly magical place! Afterwards, we'll move to a neighbouring village where we'll meet with a local chef, who will be in charge of teaching us several typical recipes of Mayan cuisine.
We'll also have a delicious Yucatecan lunch that includes a typical dish of the region, to choose from several options. In case the weather conditions do not allow us to have the class outdoors, we'll enjoy lunch in a restaurant.
Finally, we'll return to your hotel in Merida, where we'll arrive 9 hours after pickup.
