Uxmal & Kabah Day Trip
After meeting on Paseo Montejo in Mérida at the scheduled time, we'll begin this excursion to Uxmal and Kabah, two of the most important vestiges of the Maya civilization.
We'll take a guided tour of Uxmal, taking in its most important places of interest. While we gaze up at the imposing structure of the Pyramid of the Magician, also called the Pyramid of the Dwarf or Soothsayer, the guide will reveal the legend that tells of its construction. Who was the mysterious dwarf fortune teller who gave the pyramid its name?
Our tour will continue visiting the other extraordinary stone buildings of Uxmal, including the Governor's Palace, the House of Doves, the Old House, and the Falos Temple. Thanks to the excellent state of conservation of the ancient city, you'll be able to imagine what Uxmal was like in its heyday. A truly unforgettable experience!
After the guided tour of Uxmal, we'll head to another important archaeological site in the interior of the Yucatán: Kabah. Following a 20-minute drive, we'll arrive at the archaeological site of Kabah, dedicated to the Maya god of rain, Chaac. There we'll admire the hundreds of masks of the deity that cover the walls of Codz Poop, the "rolled-up carpet", and learn about the rites celebrated to attract rain.
We'll also walk by the statues of the Maya kings that are scattered throughout the ancient city and visit the palace, the largest building in Kabah.
We'll finish the excursion to Uxmal and Kabah by returning to the meeting point in Mérida, where we'll arrive 7 hours after departure.
