Chichen Itza & Tsukan Sanctuary Tour
Do you want to see one of the Seven Wonders of the Modern World? At 9 am we'll pick you up at your hotel in Merida and head east to visit one of the most important archaeological sites in the Yucatan.
After an hour and a half's drive, we'll arrive at Chichén Itzá and visit the most outstanding buildings of this city of the Mayan Empire. Did you know that this place is a World Heritage Site? We'll learn all about its exciting history as we see the ball game court, the observatory, the pyramid of Kukulkan, the Temple of the Warriors and other landmarks.
After exploring Chichén Itzá, we'll return to the minibus and head to the sanctuary of Tsukán. The temple is dedicated to a serpent that, according to the Mayas, was the owner of the caves and cenotes. We'll tell you all about this myth and attend a ritual in a recreation of a Mayan house.
If you wish, we'll also go to a cenote so that you can relax and swim in its crystalline waters, a dip in an incredible natural setting! Before returning to the minibus, we'll recover our strength with a lunch of pork pies or panuchos.
We'll finish the excursion at 6 pm and leave you at your hotel in Mérida.
