Travel to the Ría Celestún Biosphere Reserve and discover one of the most biodiverse regions of the Yucatán. You'll enjoy a boat ride alongside flamingos and herons!
Tour Details
At the scheduled time, we’ll meet at the designated location in Mérida and head to the Ría Celestún Biosphere Reserve, a stunning natural gem of the Yucatán Peninsula. Let’s get started!
Once we arrive, we’ll embark on a 90-minute boat tour through the mangroves of this protected area. We’ll pass by Bird Island, where you can admire the iconic pink flamingos, along with herons, hawks, and pelicans. We’ll also navigate through the Valeosera Lagoon and the Quinitun Lagoon, so don’t forget your camera—you might even spot a crocodile lounging on the shore!
Our adventure continues through the lush mangrove forest as we look for ducks, armadillos, ocelots, wild turkeys, and even white-tailed deer, among more than 300 other species! We’ll also stop at a cenote within the mangroves, where, if conditions allow, you can take a refreshing dip in this magical spot.
Next, we’ll head to Celestún Beach, specifically to the Beach Club, where you’ll have three hours of free time to enjoy a delicious fish or chicken fillet lunch by the sea and relax on the beach.
Finally, we’ll return to Mérida, concluding our tour after nine hours of exploration.
