On our private day trip from Mendoza, you'll discover the nature and history of this Argentine city. You'll visit the most iconic places in the city and explore the Zonda Gorge and the Tulum Valley.
San Juan Private Day Trip
At 8 am, we'll pick you up from your hotel in Mendoza and drive to San Juan, which is the capital of the province of the same name.
Our tour of this historic Argentine city will begin with a visit to the birthplace of Domingo Faustino Sarmiento, a distinguished 19th-century ruler of the province of San Juan. The next stop will be in front of the Juan Victoria Auditorium, which is home to the prestigious Escuela Superior de Música.
Next, we'll visit the San Juan Museum of Natural Sciences. Its collection houses an outstanding exhibition of dinosaur fossils found in the Ischigualasto Provincial Park, which is one of the areas in Argentina with the most significant palaeontological heritage. After visiting the museum, we'll go to the 25 de Mayo Square to visit the Cathedral of St. John the Baptist. This cathedral is one of the most modern cathedrals in Argentina, having been inaugurated in 1979.
You'll then have 1 hour of free time to eat lunch in the centre of San Juan. After lunch, we'll head into the outskirts of the city to walk around the Zonda Gorge. Near this narrow gorge, we'll see the Eduardo Copello racing circuit and the Garden of Poets. We'll admire the sculptures of the country's main poets during our visit to the latter place.
We'll round off our tour with a stop in the Tulum Valley to visit the Merced del Estero, which is one of the most famous wineries in San Juan. During our visit, we'll tour its vineyards and discover why its vines are so unique. It'll then be time to return to your hotel in Mendoza, where we'll arrive at 9 pm.
