El Salto Waterfall Hike
El Salto Waterfall Hike
We will pick you up from your hotel in Mendoza between 7:10 am and 7:30 am and set off for El Salto. On the way, we will pass through the pretty Andean villages of Cacheuta and Potrerillos, home to a huge reservoir and surrounded by the Cordón de Plata mountains!
Along the way, we will enjoy a tasty snack on board the vehicle that will include traditional pancakes from Mendoza and a choice of infusion between mate, coffee, or tea.
Once in the town of El Salto, we will begin a six-hour hike that will take us to one of the most beautiful waterfalls in the region. The moderately difficult route will take us across different high mountain Andean landscapes, reaching an altitude of 9000 ft above sea level.
The path zigzags among the rocks, eventually leading to a panoramic viewpoint of the El Salto waterfall. During the winter, we will see the icy glacier-shaped pyramid that usually forms at the foot of this Andean waterfall.
We make a stop here to take in the wonderful surroundings and observe magnificent condors in midflight. We will also take advantage of the break to regain our strength with a delicious picnic lunch that includes sandwiches or empanadas, fresh fruit and nuts, alfajores, a cereal bar, candy, and an infusion.
After this refreshing snack, we will start the return journey on foot back to the original starting point. From there we will take you to your hotel in Mendoza, where we arrive at 6 pm.
