Al Hoceima & Peñón de Vélez de la Gomera Day Trip

At 7:30 am, we'll pick you up from your hotel in Melilla and cross the Beni Ensar border as we set off on our day trip to Al Hoceima and Peñón de Vélez de la Gomera.

Once we've passed through the security checks and we're in Moroccan territory, we'll travel along the coast for a little over 2 hours until we get to Al Hoceima. When we get there, we'll take a tour of Al Hoceima and its most iconic spots. This city was previously called "Villa Sanjurjo", as it had been named after the Spanish general who claimed this region as part of Spain at the beginning of the 20th century.

After exploring the streets of Al Hoceima, we'll go to one of its beaches to see the Rock of Al Hoceima. This islet sits in the middle of the Mediterranean Sea and is currently under the protection of the Spanish military, since, despite being in Moroccan waters, it belongs to Spain.

From rock to rock, we'll later enter the Al Hoceima National Park to discover the Peñon de Vélez de la Gomera. This promontory spans 4.7 acres and is also part of Spanish territory. It was once an islet, until a powerful earthquake in 1930 connected it to the African continent via an isthmus. Today, it serves as a natural border between this Spanish territory and Morocco.

Having explored the rock, we'll make the 3-hour journey back to Melilla. We'll then accompany you back to your hotel and drop you off at 5:30 pm.
