Join us on this exciting bus tour of Melbourne in which we'll visit the Ballarat Botanical Gardens, Lake Wendouree, Sovereign Hill and the Eureka Centre. We'll also admire unbelievable views of Melbourne from the Melbourne Skydeck!
Description
On the day of the activity, we'll pick you up from Eureka Tower at the indicated time. Once we're all together, we'll travel west out of Melbourne aboard an air-conditioned bus to our first destination. Let's go!
The first stop on our adventure will be the stunning Ballarat Botanical Gardens. We'll go on a stroll to admire over 50 trees listed on the National Trust Significant Trees Register. As we wander through the conservatory, we'll see captivating floral displays like Hydrangeas in Summer, Chrysanthemums in May and Spring Bulbs in Spring.
Next, we'll make our way to Lake Wendouree. This was the rowing and canoeing venue for the 1956 Melbourne Olympic Games. Nowadays, it’s a beautiful place where you can enjoy gardens, sculptures, and a variety of birdlife. We'll have the opportunity to take a relaxing wander around this beautiful lake and try to spot some of the 166 different wildlife species that call this lake home, including the elegant Black Swans.
Afterwards, we'll go to Sovereign Hill to immerse ourselves in the sights, sounds, and smells of an 1850 Goldfields town at this open-air museum. There are many activities to take part in at Sovereign Hill, such as panning for gold, touring underground mines, seeing demonstrations of traditional crafts such as candle making and blacksmithing. There will also be the option of getting dressed up in traditional clothes and enjoying a horse and coach ride! You'll also be able to get yourself some lunch.
Our next stop will be the Eureka Centre, where we'll learn all about the cultural impact of the gold rush and the miner’s rebellion. The museum has engaging exhibits and interactive displays and is surrounded by the heritage-listed Eureka Stockade Memorial Park.
After our journey back to Eureka Tower, we'll wrap up our tour with a visit to the Melbourne Skydeck, from where we'll enjoy spectacular views of Melbourne. After taking the fastest lift in the Southern Hemisphere to the 88th floor of the Eureka Tower, we'll marvel at the magnificent view from 300 metres (984 feet) high!
