At the indicated time, we'll meet at the designated meeting point in Medellin, and from there, we'll head through the beautiful green landscapes until we reach the town of Marinilla. Here, we'll stop for breakfast to fuel up for the day.
Our first stop of the day is at La Piedra del Peñol rock, standing 721 feet (220 meters) tall. From the summit, we'll have Guatapé at our feet! Here, you'll have 1.5 hours of free time to enjoy the landscapes.
Next, we'll make our way to the town of Guatapé, where we'll leave you another 1.5 hours to stroll along the promenade and see the famous Plaza de los Zócalos, full of colorful houses and murals.
We'll also take you to see a replica of the Old Peñol, a small park that recreates how the village used to look before this area was flooded by the waters of the dam in the 70s. We'll tell you all about this fascinating history. Afterward, we'll be able to replenish your energy with a well-deserved lunch featuring traditional dishes from the region.
Following lunch, we'll board a boat for a relaxing cruise around the beautiful Guatapé dam. As we sail along, we'll see the ruins of the famous Hacienda la Manuela, one of the mansions that belonged to the infamous Pablo Escobar.
We'll learn the history of this house and then return to the starting point, where the tour will come to an end 9-12 hours after departure.
