Hiking the San Luis Mountains
Description
We'll pick you up from your hotel in Medellín at the indicated time and head south for a day full of adventure and natural beauty only Colombia can offer.
Our journey will lead us through the picturesque landscapes of Antioquia until we reach the town of San Luis. From there, we'll embark on an exhilarating 4-kilometer (2.4 miles) hiking route. On this medium to high-difficulty hike, we'll climb up to 1800 meters (5905 feet) of altitude.
The effort will undoubtedly be rewarded; as we trek along the San Luis Mountains, we'll be treated to breathtaking views of the expansive marshlands in the area. This area, nestled in eastern Antioquia, is renowned for its remarkable beauty, with lush greenery contrasting against the vastness of the landscape.
From our vantage point, we can also glimpse the winding Magdalena River, recognized as Colombia's most important body of water. Did you know it spans an impressive 1525 kilometers (5,000 miles), flowing over the country from south to north?
After fully appreciating the panoramic views, we'll begin our descent. Along this part of the journey, we'll pause to enjoy a picnic lunch featuring cold meats and fresh fruit, perfect for refueling during our long trek.
Finally, we'll return to our original meeting point in San Luis, where our transportation will comfortably take you back to your Medellin hotel, marking the end of an exhilarating 11-hour journey.
