Comuna 13 Graffiti Tour + Medellín Metrocable
Tour Details
At the designated time, we'll meet at the San Javier metro station and once we're all together, we'll step into the heart of the Comuna 13. Are you ready to explore its colorful graffiti?
First, we'll make the most of our meeting point to hop on the metrocable, the urban cable car of Medellín, where we'll enjoy a round-trip of about 15 minutes.
As you admire the pretty scenic views from above, we'll tell you about the importance of this public transport system that connects the peripheral neighborhoods with the city center. Once we hop off the metrocable, we'll board a bus that will take us to the area where the popular murals and graffiti of the Comuna 13 are found.
Throughout this tour, we'll tell you about the history of the social transformation of Comuna 13, which was marked by armed conflict and violence. Each graffiti piece tells us a story of that past and how art has become the main form of expression. You'll see an amazing explosion of colors and learn all about the leaders and organizations that have fostered change.
Afterward, we'll stop at an ice cream store, where you'll enjoy a tasting of maracumango, a delicious dessert that combines passion fruit and mango. To wrap up this tour on a high, we'll meet a local artist, who will show us their art gallery and tell us about their impact on the community.
Finally, we'll say our goodbyes at the starting point after a total of 3 hours.
