  • 187 reviews | 3,131 travellers
Absolutely wonderful tour by Anita Mejia. This is a street food tour. We tried two kind of arepas, coffee, empanadas, Guarapo, chantaduro,, went to the flower market, the town square, the farmers market, saw how certain foods were made. Anita gave us the history and the background of so many things. My friends and I really enjoyed this tour and would do it again.

Free Food Tour of Medellin

We'll meet at San Antonio tram station at 9:30 am, ready to discover the best flavours of Colombia on our free food tour of Medellin.

Once we're all together, we'll take a walking tour of the most important places in the historic centre: Placita de Flórez, Plazuela de San Ignacio, Mercado de la Playa.. There's so much to discover!

Along the way, we'll make several stops to taste the most typical dishes of Medellin and explain the most popular and important recipes in Colombian culture and history.

We'll taste arepas, which are stuffed cornmeal cakes that are crispy outside and fluffy inside. As well as trying empanadas and pandebono pastries. Then we'll try the famous buñuelos, a sweet fried fritter like a doughnut. You can also taste different tropical fruits such as guarapo and even enjoy an exquisite Colombian coffee too!

We'll also visit some traditional markets such as the one in the Placita de Flórez or the Mercado de Playa, where we'll take the opportunity to discover the local gastronomy and ancestral medicine.

Have you worked up an appetite? At lunchtime, we'll head to the place with the most delicious bandeja paisa, a typical Colombian dish, in Medellin. We'll also have time for you to enjoy an intense Colombian coffee.

After three hours of enjoying Colombian cuisine on our free food tour, we'll finish the tour at Mercado de la Playa at around 1 pm.
