Join us for a delightful journey through Antioquia, where you'll savor the most authentic flavors of Colombian cuisine on this food tour of Guatapé. We'll explore charming towns like Marinilla and El Peñol, plus take a boat ride - it'll be a jam-packed day!

Tour Details

We'll meet at the designated time on 9th Street in Medellín, near El Poblado Park. From there, our route through Antioquia will lead us to Marinilla, El Peñol, and Alto del Chocho.

First off, we'll venture through the breathtaking Antioquia tunnel, the longest in Colombia and among the longest in Latin America. Our next enchanting destination is the magical town of Marinilla, known as Medellín's agricultural center.

Here, we'll enjoy a delightful tasting experience featuring strawberries carefully harvested by families with generations of tradition rooted in these lands. Our culinary exploration continues to El Alto del Chocho, where the second and third gastronomic delights await—indulging in a flavorsome pan bobo paired with a traditional chocolate drink.

As we delve deeper into the region, we'll approach El Peñol. Alongside admiring the impressive statue at the village entrance, we'll relish the distinctive flavor of tree tomatoes with sweet traditional panela. Welcome to the tomato town of Colombia!

Our journey will then take us to Guatapé, where we'll hop on a boat for a serene cruise on the Peñol-Guatapé reservoir. While aboard, you'll learn about the area's history and catch glimpses of houses belonging to famous people.

During our voyage, we'll get to try an Antioquian dish called "fiambre antioqueño," featuring rice, pork rinds, ground meat, veggies, eggs, and sausage. It's simply delicious!

After returning to land, we'll indulge in "solteritas," delectable cream cookies. Following this sweet treat, you'll have an hour of free time in Guatapé. Explore the quaint Zócalos Square, admire the Nuestra Señora del Carmen church, and snap photos of the charming umbrellas adorning its main streets - you'll fall in love with the place!

Next, we'll head to the Piedra del Peñol, a renowned natural monument in Guatapé, where we'll spend the next two hours. This towering monolith, standing at 220 meters (721 feet), offers incredible panoramic views of the reservoir and is steeped in legends. You can climb to the top or, if you prefer, relax and capture photos from its base.

As we make our way back to Medellín, we'll make one final stop for another tasting experience, a special cheese called Siete Cueros.

After an excursion lasting between eight and ten hours, we'll say our goodbyes back at the starting point.
