Day Trip to Yolombó
Day Trip Details
At the designated time, we'll pick you up from your hotel in Medellin to begin this day trip to Yolombó, whose name comes from the Indigenous people. Interested in learning about this town's past? Let's get started!
Upon arrival, we'll go on a guided tour to discover the town's most iconic sites, like the Palacio Municipal or the San Lorenzo Church. This town is well-known among Colombians as the primary setting for the novel La Marquesa de Yolombó, written by Colombian author Tomás Carrasquilla. This novel reflects Colombian society from the mid-18th century until the time it became an independent republic.
After exploring the most urban part of the town, we'll head to the rural area to discover one of the most popular places in Yolombó: the El Saltillo Waterfall. This spectacular waterfall is one of the most beautiful sights in town, thanks to its stunning contrast of green fields and blue skies. Here, you'll have approximately an hour to take a refreshing dip in the crystal-clear waters of the waterfall.
In the afternoon, you'll enjoy a delicious lunch with a typical dish from Colombian cuisine while learning about the different species of birds that inhabit the area. Feel free to ask any questions you have about these animals that we may have encountered along the way!
Finally, we'll return to the starting point after our 6-hour day trip.
