Masca Ravine Hike
Masca Ravine Hike
At the scheduled time, we'll meet at the Plaza de Masca to start discovering one of the most unique hiking trails on the whole island.
From this starting point, we'll begin our 6.2-mile (10 km) hiking route that'll lead us to the incredible landscape around the gorge. In total, we'll be spending approximately three hours going down and three and a half hours on our way back up.
Our route will begin in the heart of the Teno Rural Park as we descend through a once volcanic canyon, whose unique shape has been formed by 5 million years of flowing water. We'll follow the course of the Masca stream, admiring the birds that fly overhead and taking note of the different plant species that we'll encounter.
The path will then take us to Masca Beach, a wild bay that can only be reached by boat or on foot. We'll take a break here and listen to the waves crashing against the rocks as we take in the towering Los Gigantes cliffs, standing at a 1,476-foot (450-meter) height. When we're ready, we'll start the ascent up the ravine.
After 6 hours, we'll finish this hike through the Masca ravine, arriving at the starting point.
