Description
Day 1: Marrakech - Casablanca - Rabat
Welcome to Morocco! We'll pick you up at the airport in Marrakesh, or at your hotel or riad in the city, and we'll depart in a northerly direction. The first stop will be in Casablanca, the economic and cultural capital of Morocco. There we'll see some of the most important sites of the city, such as the Hassan II Mosque, one of the largest sanctuaries in the world.
You'll have free time in Casablanca for lunch and, after lunch, we'll continue our tour to the north. We'll end the day in the capital of Morocco, Rabat, where we'll visit Méchouar (the ramps and walls surrounding the Royal Palace), the Kasbah of the Oudayas as well as the magnificent Mausoleum of Mohammed V and Hassan II. We'll spend the night in Rabat.
Day 2: Rabat - Meknes - Volubilis - Fez
After enjoying a delicious breakfast, we'll continue our journey to Meknes, one of the most important imperial cities of Morocco. Established in the 11th century by the Almoravids, the city is home to opulent palaces, beautiful mosques and large souks.
After admiring Meknes, you'll be driven to the Roman Ruins of Volubilis, declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO. We'll then take a break in a local restaurant to recharge our batteries.
We'll conclude the day by heading to a central hotel in Fez for dinner and to spend the night.
Day 3: Fez
On the third day, we'll visit the striking city of Fez. This is the oldest imperial city of Morocco, established in the 8th century by Idris II of Morocco.
We'll visit the oldest walled part of Fez, Fes El Bali, one of the largest preserved medieval sites in the world, which has been a UNESCO World Heritage center for over 30 years.
In the heart of the Medina is the Al-Attarine Madrasa, one of the most beautiful madrasas in the city with an exquisitely decorated patio. Then, follow your guide to Funduq Al-Najjarin and to Zaouia of Moulay Idris, the shrine and tomb of Idris II, founder of Fez.
Next, we'll visit the Al-Qarawiyyin Mosque, which belongs to Al-Qarawiyyin University, the oldest academy built in 880. Lastly, you'll check out Fes Jdid, the new part of the city.
Day 4: Fez - Ifrane - Azrou - Ouzoud Falls
Leaving Fez behind, we'll hit the road through the Middle Atlas Mountains, passing through the picturesque towns of Ifrane and Azrou. Along the drive through the cedar forests, you may even be able to spot Barbary macaques!
You'll have lunch at a local restaurant and, at the end of the day, the impressive Ouzoud Falls awaits. After visiting this natural wonder, we'll conclude the day at a hotel in the area.
Day 5: Ouzoud Falls - Marrakech
