At the designated time we'll meet outside the Islane Hotel to embark on this magical walking tour of one of Morocco's most impressive cities. Let's go!
Our first stop will be the Koutoubia Mosque, a convenient short stroll from our meeting point. Get ready to admire this masterpiece of Islamic design, truly one of the most impressive architectural gems in the city. Did you know that its minaret has inspired other famous towers such as the Giralda in Seville? You'll be amazed by how this building blends beauty, history, and worship.
Afterwards, we'll walk over to Jamaa El-Fnaa Square, the beating heart of Morocco. This spot is particularly famous for the lively atmosphere brought by various performers, including snake charmers, storytellers, acrobats, and musicians. One of the cultural hubs of the city, this bustling square is a UNESCO World Heritage site and serves as a vibrant meeting point for locals and tourists alike. You'll love it!
Then comes a true tour highlight: the souks of Marrakech. Here you'll have around 20 minutes of free time to wander around labyrinthine streets and immerse yourself in these unique markets, which sell anything from fabrics to spices and handcrafted items. The perfect place to buy a souvenir or two!
Next landmark? Medersa Ben Youssef! Built in the 14th century, this stunning building was once home to 900 students of theology, science, and astronomy. Nowadays, it boasts some of the most beautiful mosaic tilework and stucco in the city. Cameras at the ready? If you wish, you can even venture inside to learn more about the Medersa's history.
Our final stop will be at Le Jardin Secret, an incredible oasis of peace within Marrakech. This garden offers a tranquil alternative to the hustle and bustle of the city, as well as a serene atmosphere where you can relax and enjoy the surrounding greenery. And the best part? From the garden's tower, you'll have stunning views of Marrakech's medina and the Atlas Mountains. What a great way to end this walking tour!
